CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 2018 CONFERENCE TRAVEL ASSISTANCE GRANTS
CBAA members who are ineligible for or have been unable to receive sufficient institutional financial support for conference attendance are encouraged to apply for Conference Travel Assistance Grants. Applications will be accepted through September 9, 2017. National travel grants are awarded at $400 and regional grants are awarded at $200. Regional applicants are considered to be those who are traveling within 400 miles of the conference site.
ELIGIBILITY:
With the exception of current members of the Board of Directors and Awards Committee, all members of CBAA are eligible to apply for Conference Travel Assistance Grants. Member categories:
- Student
- Regular
- Independent – book artist, educator, scholar, critic, etc., unaffiliated with an academic institution. It is up to applicants to self-identify as “independent.” This is not an official CBAA membership category, but helps the Awards Committee in its aim to support members with diverse experiences.
TO SUBMIT A PROPOSAL:
Applications will be accepted through Submittable. To apply, please visit https://cbaaregional.submittable.com/submit and click on 2018 CBAA Conference Travel Assistance Grants.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Please gather the following materials and have the following information ready in order to submit:
- Short statement of circumstantial need, motivation to attend conference, and interest in/involvement with CBAA
- Curriculum vitae (no more than 4 pages)
- Students only: nomination by a faculty or staff member of the student’s institution.
Nominations are not made through Submittable; instead, the nominator should email a nomination statement of 100 words or fewer to Candida Pagan candida.pagan@gmail.com and Emily Tipps at awards@collegebookart.org with the subject heading “CBAA travel grant nomination” by September 9, 2017. Students are responsible for facilitating the nomination, and ensuring its timely completion.
NOTIFICATION:
Applicants will be notified of grant status by November 10, 2017.
